Parenting

Considering parenting at this stage of life may feel overwhelming. Caring for a new life is indeed a big responsibility. It can be one of life’s most rewarding experiences and one of life’s most challenging roles. Many people want to be parents at some point in their lives. Although the timing and your current situation might not align with your plans, your pregnancy still provides an opportunity to experience the joy of becoming a parent. We can help you process your emotions, fears and assess your needs and the supports available to you.

Things to think about when considering parenting:

  • Before getting pregnant, what did I think about becoming a parent? What do I think and feel now?

  • Do I think I understand what I need to be a good parent? Do I have any fears or concerns?

  • Is there anyone pressuring me to keep the baby? Would someone close to me be against my choice to parent?

We are available to discuss with you any questions you may have regarding parenting and explore the assistance, supports and resources most suitable to you and your needs.

We are here to help you understand all your options, so that you can make an informed decision. It is your pregnancy, your right to know, and your decision. We are committed to providing you with caring emotional support, no matter what you decide.

“I struggled a lot in the beginning with whether or not I was going to follow through with my pregnancy. I received a lot of support coming to the pregnancy centre. They answered my questions and helped me learn lots I had no idea about.”
